Ellenor and I met up again after a few months to shoot together this week. We’ve just been so caught up with our own work schedules that we haven’t really had the opportunity to meet up. Luckily our schedules overlapped just in time before she leaves on a huge trip so we met up at the Hotel Bel Air to shoot some content for her blog!
For this second set we shot, I went back to my roots. Ok that’s a little dramatic but I DID break out my old stock lens that I haven’t touched in months because I’ve been obsessed with my 35mm 1.8 that I borrowed from my old roommate. I love good bokeh and blurry backgrounds make my heart sing and I couldn’t really get that with the kit because it only goes down to 3.5 HOWEVER since I shoot on a crop sensor body, my 35mm lens tends to make it a little difficult for me to get certain wide shots because the areas I tend to shoot at don’t always give me the ability to stand as far back or low as I need to get the right shot.
So I went in and loaded up the old lens, brought the focal length to as wide as it goes and just shot away! I got to stay a comfortable distance from Ellenor and I didn’t need to drop all the way to the ground or stand really far away like if I had to use my 35mm. The photos that came out of that set were also completely different from what I’ve been doing recently and I LOVED the change.
Overall I’m so so so happy with how these photos came out and I’m glad I listened to my friends and got out of my comfort zone to shoot. Happy Friday everyone and hope you all have a great weekend! See you Monday ;)
